Steps

The first step is to submit your request to New Life India either using the feedback form on our website or by emailing our team members directly. Your request will be responded to within 24 hours.

Note: please provide as much detail in your request as possible. The more background information you give us, the better understanding of your situation we will have and the more comprehensive our response will be able to be.

Usually, depending on your program and the medical procedures involved, you/ and your partner will need to make a number of tests to prove you can safely start your program. To save time and expense you can do all the necessary tests in your country and send them to us scanned by email (but then bring originals with you to India when you arrive). Once our doctors confirm your test results allow you to start your program, we go to the next step.

If you request an IVF program that will involve yours and your partner's biological material, then you are given a schedule to follow by our Doctors. Usually for the female partner, this means a stimulation protocol to retrieve her eggs for the IVF. Most of the stimulation you can do at home according to the Doctor's guidance and arrive several days before egg retreival. For the male partner, there is no special preparation plan aside from a healthy diet and arrival by the day of retreival.

In the case of an egg donation program, you will be given passwords to browse our database of egg donors to choose the candidate who is a best match for you. Our database only contains candidates who are healthy physically and mentally, and is refreshed regularly.

Once you have decided on the candidates, we book them for you and start preparation. According to the preparation plan we schedule your visit to India to donate eggs/sperm sample. Again, if you are using your own eggs for your surrogacy program, you can prepare yourself in your country and come before puncture. The surrogate mother will be prepared and synchronized with you in India.

Before stimulation begins we sign contracts with you and your donor/surrogate. Once these have been signed and returned, we ask for the first payment to begin stage one. In general your payments are made in stages according to your individual program.

When both the surrogate and patient/egg donor are prepared and their cycles are synchronized, we start the IVF cycle and at this stage the male patient needs to arrive to India to leave his biological material. When the IVF attempt is successful, the next stage payments are made at regular intervals as stipulated by your payment plan.

Intended parents will need to arrive in India for the birth of the baby to take custody and to begin the registration process. We will help you to register the baby and prepare all documents needed by your embassy.

Administrative Process:

1. Contact us by email or phone and inform us about what you require: Tell us any details regarding your infertility history (if you have one) and e-mail us copies of scanned test results. We can also send you a list of the tests we require from you

2. Request samples of the contracts: The intended parents can request samples of the contracts and get acquainted with the contract details first.

3. Request information related to fees: Select the package you require (surrogacy, egg donation, surrogacy and egg donation) and we will forward the relevant payment schedule to you. If you are unsure, please feel free to discuss your needs with us.

4. Database access: We provide you with the password and login details for our database access, so that you can view the potential candidate's profiles and select the best match for you/your partner;

5. Choosing your Egg Donor: Please send us a short-list of the egg donors that most interest you from the database. We will provide her personal information, family history, any details about previous donations, or in case of new donors our IVF doctor will go through the list and recommend the best egg donor candidate for you (based on her Antral follicles Count). As soon as you confirm the candidate, contracts will be drawn up for you to sign.

New Life India provides you with Indian as well as Caucasian Egg Donor profiles to choose from. If you prefer a Caucasian donor, we will provide you with access to these databases and coordinate the donor's travel to India.

6.Selection of Surrogates: The Surrogate mothers have all met with our strict requirements. They must have had at least one child of their own with a problem free pregnancy and undergo history checks and medical evaluations. Once they have been approved by our Medical team, they can be prepared for the surrogacy cycle. The surrogate is not selected by the Intended Parents, but by the Doctor, according to the most suitable candidate for you. We reserve the right to substitute the surrogate mother, when for example, if we have 10 IVF cases at one time; we prepare 12 surrogate mothers as a backup plan in the event that the surrogate does not respond optimally to the medication. So, if needed, we always have an alternative surrogate to ensure the best chance of a successful outcome.

Details and information on your surrogate are provided to you.

7. Signing the contract: The contract/s will be emailed to you and will need to be printed out, signed on each page, scanned and returned to us.

8. First payment: Once the Agreement is signed, the Intended Parents are required to make the first payment. Payment instructions are provided along with the contracts and payment schedule. The egg donor's compensation/ surrogate mother payments MUST be paid directly to their personal accounts at the appropriate stage. Their account details will be provided for you. This way both you and we are assured she directly receives her payment and the IVF was done with the same egg donor you chose.

9.How can I make payments?

All the payments are done via bank transfers.

10.What is the price list for my program?

Please contact your case manager for your individual program.

11. Start preparation (Please, see details in medical section)

12. Plan your arrival and book ticket/hotel: Agree/confirm your arrival date with your case manager and visit us at our office according to the agreed schedule. Please see more details in the Arrival section.

Q: Do I need a visa to arrive in India?
Yes, you need to take a medical visa or tourist visa to come to start your program. We can also assist our clients with an invitation letter for visa formalities if required.

Q: Arrival and Accommodation
Please feel free to familiarise yourself with New Delhi, India, before arriving. Here are some links you may find helpful:

We also assist our clients with Hotel accommodation and travel guides.

Q: Is my destination country safe?
Yes, India is a safe Country. General measures of safety and street-smart caution applies. Please, be aware of road traffic and be careful when crossing the street.

Q: How many times would we have to visit India through the procedure? How long must we stay each time?
You will have to visit India twice: Once to deposit the sperm (and or/ egg retrieval) and second to take the baby home. If you are using your own material with a surrogate, you will have the choice of starting medication at home and a short stay in India (5-7 days) or starting your medication with us and a stay of app 14 days.

If you require an egg donor, you can choose your egg donor via our database from home, confirm the candidate and in this case you will arrive at the time of IVF for 3 days. It means that your IVF will be done with a fresh sperm sample. Usually we successfully work in both cases as sperm freezing does not affect the IVF success rates.

When Intended Parents have both a donor and surrogate, they can also ship frozen sperm samples. This means that they can sign contracts via emails (PDF versions) and confirm their ED /Surrogate program without travelling to India.

To Sum up:

a) You can arrive, meet personally egg donor candidates, sign surrogacy and egg donation contracts, leave sperm which will be frozen and fly back. This takes not more than 4 days.
b) You can select ED candidate via internet, confirm her, we will prepare donor and surrogate and you will arrive upon IVF to donate fresh sperm sample
c) You can select ED candidate via internet, confirm her, send signed contracts via mail, send frozen sperm via shipment company and arrive in India only to take the baby home.
d) In case of only Surrogacy program Genetic mother and Genetic father have to be here for IVF. In this case the Doctor will choose the surrogacy candidate for them.

The Duration of the second visit (to take baby home) depends on which Country you are from and on your Country/Embassy regulations. Usually it does not take more than 6 weeks.

Q: Where is your office located?

Medical Process

Q: Could you please specify the details of the preparation period?
You and your partner will need to make several tests to prove you can safely start you program. You can undergo all necessary tests in your home country; send the scanned results to us by e-mail. The specifics of the preparation period usually vary depending on the program you are in need of. Once we confirm your eligibility to the program, we will proceed with the next steps and you will be prescribed the preparation plan by our doctor.
Please, refer to the description of the preparation period for different program packages as follows:

A: Egg Donor + Surrogate Program
Once you choose the candidate, the medical preparation starts. Both donor and surrogate need to undergo several medical tests. Then both of them will start receiving the birth control pills in order to synchronize their cycles. Once the surrogate and egg donor are prepared and their cycles are synchronized, we start the IVF cycle - the donor stimulation starts, eggs are picked up on day 12-14, embryos are fertilized and transferred to the uterus on day 3 after egg pick up. Medical Exam/Synchronization/ IVF process usually takes approximately 8-10 weeks.

B: Genetic Mother + Surrogate Program
You, as a genetic mother have two options:
a)You can do all necessary tests (FSH, LH, AMH) in your home country on day 2 or 3 of your menstrual cycle and send the scanned results to us by e-mail. Once our doctor confirms your ability to use your eggs, both you and the surrogate start receiving birth control pills from the beginning of your menstrual cycle. As soon as you are synchronized you start the ovarian stimulation procedure (medication to retrieve your eggs for IVF) with your specialist. Our doctor will choose the stimulation protocol for you, so that you can arrive in India on day 8 or 9 of stimulation. The remainder of the stimulation process will continue in India. For the male partner there is no special preparation plan but we require test results from him.
In this case you have to be in India only one week.

b) You, as a genetic mother can arrive in India on day 2 of your menstrual cycle and undergo the stimulation procedure with our doctors. To begin in India, you will need to stay for 2 weeks. In both cases you will be informed 2-3 weeks in advance when you need to cease birth control pills and thus you will be able to book/plan your trip accordingly.

C. Frozen Embryo Transfer + Surrogac
For a frozen embryo transfer and surrogacy program, you can contact you local Shipper (or we can send you contacts of known shipping companies) and send frozen embryos to us. Please, be aware that this is a completely legal process.

Note: Pregnancy is confirmed after two weeks from embryo transfer for all programs mentioned above.

Q How are the donors/genetic mothers/ Surrogates screened?
Egg donor/genetic mother tests required:

CBC/hb- Complete blood count/hemoglobin
Blood group- In case blood emergency transfusion is required
HIV -Human immunodeficiency virus
HbsAg -Hepatitis B
VDRL- Syphillis
HCV- Hepatitis C
FSH (CD2-4) follicle stimulating hormone - tests for ovarian reserve ( must be measured on day 2-4 of menses)
LH (CD2-4)- Luteinizing hormone ( Must be measured on day 2-4 of menses )
TSH/T3/T4 - Thyroid stimulating hormone/thyroid function test
Prolactin- Measures the level of hormone prolactin produced by the pituitary gland (blood test done within three hours of waking). High levels can indicate infertility.Pelvic ultrasound for antral follicle count (day 3-5 of menses )"Vaginal swab tests for chlamydia to rule out any infection that may flare up during or after retrieval
Blood Tests on Chlamidia,Herpes and Citomegaloviruses

Q: What tests are required for the genetic father?

HIV - Human immunodeficiency virus

STD HbsAg - Hepatitis B
VDRL - Syphillis
HCV Hepatitis -C
Semen analysis and culture done within the last 6 months
Optional:

Cystic fibrosis (incidence 1:25) genetic testing is optional
Karyotyping to test for genetic conditions

Q: What is your success rate?
In general, the success rate is high, 60 percent when we carry out egg donation +surrogacy program. We have many successful parents that have succeeded at the very first attempt but individual factors play a role. We always inform our intended parents beforehand that they should be prepared emotionally and financially for 2-3 fresh IVF attempts. Usually, it may take 1 to 3 IVF attempts with a surrogate mother before you will be successful, that is why it is important to have 15-18 eggs and a healthy sperm sample.

Q: What happens if my first IVF attempt fails?
In this case we have two solutions:
Solution one: many couples have remaining embryos frozen from their first attempt. In this case, the embryos are thawed for an additional surrogacy cycle. The cost is greatly reduced as a fresh IVF cycle is not required.
Solution two: If there are no embryos left from the first attempt, intended parents will need a new IVF cycle or donor cycle ( ED IVF package fee will be payable again).

Q: What tests are done during the pregnancy and how often they are monitored?

Baby Registration / Embassy Issues

Q: Is surrogacy legal in India?
Commercial surrogacy is legal in India, as recognized by the Supreme Court of India in 2002.[14] India is emerging as a leader in international surrogacy and a destination in surrogacy-related fertility tourism. In India single parent surrogacy is allowed.

Q: Whose name goes on the birth certificate?
Commissioning parent's names go on the birth certificate according to law. Thus no surrogacy is mentioned on the baby certificate. Please note that in India since there are no definite laws put down for surrogacy as yet, the clinic follows the ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) guidelines for the Regulation and Accreditation of ART clinics in India.

In case of a single woman or man, the birth certificate should only have the name of the woman or man desiring the child.

Q: how long does it take to obtain the birth certificate?

It takes one/two days after birth to obtain the birth certificate. As soon as you receive this, you will apply to your Embassy for your baby's passport or travel document .It takes from two to six weeks to receive a baby passport/travel document. If you are USA or UK Citizens, you will additionally be requested to have a DNA test.

When you proceed with surrogacy in India, it is gestational surrogacy, therefore the surrogate has no genetic relation to the baby she bears for you. And, according to Indian laws, she is not considered the legal mother of your baby.

Q: How can I get a passport for the baby?
You will contact your embassy, present the baby's certificate and two passport size photos of the child/children and request travel documents or passporst. Please be aware that we are not and cannot be responsible for embassy issues. However, we can refer you to a surrogacy expert attorney, who can assist you with all details if requested. Please note that some Embassy's will not issue travel documents for surrogacy babies if it is illegal under their countries legislation. Please check with your relevant authorities to ensure you can legally proceed.

We don't need a surrogate or donor, we want IVF only?

We will just need you to undergo the screening tests prior to starting the cycle. You will need to send us a copy of all the reports. The clinic will then begin the cycle at the earliest. Your maximum stay in New Delhi will be for two weeks.
